ARCHIVE - February/March 2011

February

One of the highlights of February was the amazing performance of our 2nd graders (Pm immersion 3) in one of our favorite musicals, Roule Galette. Our "acteurs en herbe" (budding actors) worked really hard at learning their lines! Take a look at them in action http://www.frenchforfun.com/past_events.html.

Heritage School Status...
February was also a month of several administrative accomplishments at French for Fun. For the afternoon program, we are pleased to inform you that French for Fun has obtained the Heritage School status from the California Department of Education (CDE). Among other things, a heritage school offers education or academic tutoring in a foreign language, education on the culture, traditions or history of a country other than the United States. As for the morning program (preschool level), we are hoping to receive a formal inspection visit from our Community Care Licensing agent early March 2011.

March

We are moving into enrollment season for fall for our preschool level. All current morning parents have received an enrollment packet. We continue to receive numerous inquiries about the program, and all indications lead us to believe that we will have another busy enrollment season. It is important that current morning families decide about enrollment as soon as possible to guarantee placement for fall.

March was highlighted with our annual celebration of Mardi Gras (March 8). Petits et grands, teachers and quite a few parents celebrated joyfully wearing costumes, masks, beads in a parade and shared plenty of crêpes, beignets and bugnes for the occasion! See photos on our Special Events web page http://www.frenchforfun.com/past_events.html

New Director...
Last, following our anticipation last month of a visit from Community Care Licensing Department from the Dept of Social Services, we are pleased to inform you that the general inspection went very well. Our last pending item before we receive our facility license, is to appoint a director for our morning immersion program (preschool level). We are delighted and excited to announce that we have appointed Paulette Ove as our new director for our preschool program. Mrs. Ove has an extensive experience and is a passionate educator in the field of early childhood education/K, particularly in science. We will soon share more information with you introducing our new director. Stay tuned...

Spring Break: French for Fun will be closed from April 4-8. Classes resume the week of April 11.

Bonnes Vacances and Happy Spring Season!
